Beauty | Time to change up your beauty regime for winter

The change in weather and harsh environment can play havoc on your skin. Changing your beauty regime for winter may be the best way to prevent and combat any skin issues.

Changing seasons can have a real impact on your skin and hence the need to change up your beauty regime. This is especially the case during winter when your skin is prone to increased dehydration.

Assess your current skin products and test to see if your moisturiser is suitable for the more harsher climes in winter. Use an oil-based instead of a water-based moisturiser so that the oil forms a protective layer on the skin and retains moisture on your face.

Moisturise your skin several times in a day and, if possible, use body lotions and oil containing avocado oil or mineral oil to reduce the dryness on your skin.

You also need to exfoliate your skin more often to remove the dead cells, allowing your skin to better absorb the serums and moisturisers you use.

While it may be cooler, you still need an SPF in your products to protect your skin from harmful winter rays.

The skin on your hands has fewer oil glands, and has the thinnest skin layer than in any other part of the body. During winter season, to avoid cracking or itching of the hands use a hand moisturiser and wear gloves while going out.

Due to the bitter cold wind during winter season most of us find it difficult to manage the frizzy, and dry texture of the hair.

Split ends are very common at this time so have a deep conditioning treatment regularly, and use a serum or a hair cream to ensure your hair looks healthy.

As with other seasons, it is important to keep your skin hydrated through the consumption of water.
