  • Not using the right shampoo and conditioner in your hair – it is important to use correct product for your hair as using the wrong products can strip colours and damage your hair.
  • When using hair straighteners or other heated styling tools make sure to use a hair protector. Using high temperature will damage the hair so try to cut down on the amount of time styling tools are applied to the hair.
  • Many shampoos on the shop shelves contains silicone and this causes a coating to build up on the hair which can mean your hair will lose its shine. This coating can be removed by a clarifying shampoo.
  • Hair that is over conditioned is as bad as hair that’s under conditioned an cause damage & split ends . We all want our hair healthy and shiny and this can be achieved by using the correct products and not over doing it.
  • Not using the right brush. Its important to use the right brush for your hair, harsh brushes can break your hair. Be very gentle when combing or brushing your hair when wet as wet hair is very susceptible to breakage
  • Not sectioning your hair. When styling your hair start by dividing it into sections, trying to style all your hair in one quick scoop in order to save time can result in one big fuzzy mess and as a result take twice as long to style. Also if you don’t section your hair you can end up drying the same hair over and over again which causes the hair become static, if this does happen wet that section again and restart drying.
  • Over washing your hair removes the essential oils that keeps your hair healthy but under washing by shampooing only once will not remove the oils. The first wash removes the oil and dirt from scalp but the second shampoo removes it from the actually hair. Hair should be washed 2-3 times a week
  • Towel drying can damage the hair cuticle and lead to hair breakages. Gently towel dry your hair and allow to dry naturally or finish off dying with hair-dryer on a low heat.
  • Using heat products on wet hair. Hair is at its weakest when wet so hair straighteners and curlers should only be used on dry hair.
  • Colouring our hair ourselves. Go to a professional hairdresser. hairdressers go through years of training so they really know what they are doing and what will and won’t work. Its not worth the risk doing it yourself.
