Beyonce shares an important message

She’s one of the most powerful women in the music industry but she regularly proves she’s powerful in other aspects of her life too. Beyonce may be in the midst of her big world tour – arriving into Dublin this weekend to play in Croke Park tomorrow night, but she still found the time to issue an important message to the world for a cause she strongly believes in.

The singer took to her website this week following the shootings of two innocent men in the USA earlier in the week – Alton Sterling and Philando Castile – to speak out against the killings of black people by police officers throughout the USA. The two men were shot dead by police in separate incidents and were captured on video and widely shared across social media.

“We are sick and tired of the killings of young men and women in our communities,” the statement reads. “It is up to us to take a stand and demand that they ‘stop killing us’.”

In her message, Beyonce urges her fans to channel any anger about the recent killings into political action by including links to legislators.

“We must use our voices to contact the politicians and legislators in our districts and demand social and judicial changes,” she added.

“While we pray for the families of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, we will also pray for an end to this plague of injustice in our communities.”
