Big News for Making A Murderer Fans

When ‘Making a Murderer’ was released last year, the Netflix audience worldwide went into a bit of a frenzy with everyone being guilty of binge watching all 10 or so episodes of the documentary – some managing to complete the entire series in one go. But what really got everyone talking was the lack of closure at the end. Did they do it? Didn’t they? So the news that there will be a second series of the hit documentary series went down a treat and we’ve all been waiting anxiously to hear more about it. And while we’re still waiting on a release date, recent events have us even more intrigued to find out how the case unfolds.

On Friday, a judge overturned Brendan Dassey’s conviction, meaning the nephew of Steven Avery is now officially a free man. Brendan was found guilty of helping his uncle kill a woman in a case profiled in the Netflix series and recently the judge ruled that that investigators coerced a confession using deceptive tactics.

Dassey confessed to helping Avery carry out the rape and killing of a woman named Teresa Halbach, but his attorneys argued that his constitutional rights were violated throughout the investigation. He has been serving a life sentence, as well as his uncle, since his initial conviction. Brendan Dassey is now aged 26 and was just 16 years old when Halbach was killed.

What this means for Steven Avery, we’re not entirely sure but with a turn of events such as this – we’ll remain intrigued until then. Watch this space!
