5. He’s a gent; even The Queen thinks so, as he was presented with an OBE in 1999.

4. He gives back. Neeson has supported 14 registered charities and 13 causes, according to celebrity charity site

3. He doesn’t take himself too seriously. The Michael Collins actor knows how to have a laugh and has had many as a result of that famous scene from Taken.

2. His love for family. Following the tragic death of his wife and mother of his sons, Natasha Richardson, who died in a skiing accident in Canada in 2009, Neeson made his kids his number one priority.

In a recent interview in the U.S, he revealed the song he and his wife danced to at their wedding in 1994 as Van Morrison’s Crazy Love. In 2014, the actor made an appearance on 60 Minutes with Anderson Cooper, and spoke about grieving for his late-wife. “[Her death] was never real. It still kind of isn’t. There’s periods now in our New York residence when I hear the door opening – especially the first couple of years – anytime I hear that door opening, I still think I’m going to hear her.” Pass the tissues!

1. He never forgets his roots. The Taken actor recently returned to Northern Ireland, where he visited his local GAA club and Slemish College, where he chatted with students and teachers for about two hours, according to one of the teachers there. One local person said Neeson’s sons Micheál and Daniel visit the area more often than he does.
