Avoiding Bad Breath
Even if you abstain from eating garlic and onions, the bacteria that grows in your mouth can give you bad breath. It’s not pleasant but it happens to the best of us. While there are many reasons for bad breath, the first step to addressing it is good oral hygiene. And we mean more than just brushing your teeth twice a day. So how do we avoid being that person at the party?
Choose a toothpaste with fluoride
Choosing one that contains mouthwash isn’t any more effective than traditional ones. They just taste mintier. Choose one containing fluoride however, and it will help kill bacteria.
Floss daily
To remove plaque as it causes a build up of bacteria. If left untreated, plaque hardens and can be difficult to remove.
Sip water
Doing so regularly will help wash away bacteria and keep your mouth fresh.
Use only alcohol-free mouthwash
Alcohol kills germs but is drying which means it also breeds bacteria.
Brush your tongue.
It’s a hard habit to start but beneficial in avoiding bad breath. The tongue harbours food particles trapped under a thin layer of mucus which can cause odour build up.
Avoid alcohol and cheese.
We know, not our favourite one either. Alcohol is dehydrating and both hard and soft cheese clings to your teeth and encourages bacterial growth.
