Sipping cucumber was one of those things that we all did on spa days. However, more people are incorporating the drink into their daily diets thanks to its great health benefits.

We all know that consuming a glass of hot water and lemon in the morning to kickstart our system is important. But what about cucumber water? Well, this is what we should also be drinking to stay hydrated and healthy according to the health gurus.

Consuming the recommended six to eight glasses of water a day can sometimes be hard. That is why drinking infused water with fruit and vegetables is touted as ‘easier’ for some. Cucumber, however, can provide those extra benefits to your overall well being.

Why? Because they are rich in vitamin C, beta carotene, manganese and several flavonoid antioxidants. These properties are all important to fight off infection and other serious diseases.

Indeed, early research has shown that cucumbers can help in the fight against cancer thanks to their antioxidants and compounds. Other research has shown that the dietary flavonoid fisetin, which is found in cucumbers, might help to slow the progression of prostate cancer.

To really let the water become infused with flavour, add slices of fresh cucumber to a pitcher and let it chill for one hour before serving.

Cucumbers are also a good source of potassium, an important electrolyte that helps regulate the amount of sodium retained by the kidneys. As such, drinking cucumber water helps your body get more potassium and so helping to lower your blood pressure.

Cucumbers can also help skin issues. As they are high in vitamin B5, they are known to help treat acne.

So what is not to love about cucumber water?
