Each year, we waste a lot of cash on unused food and expensive beauty products. Combining them both will save you a lot of cash, and achieve amazing results.

For some, the thought of using household food in your beauty routine is off-putting. That is what our cabinet full of beauty products is there for.

For years, however, women all over the world have been using natural food products to achieve their flawless look. Indeed, brands have been embracing the use of such ingredients in their products for years. Just look at the trend of coconut in hair and beauty products.

Instead of going for your expensive hair mask brand, use coconut oil before you wash your hair to soften the look of split ends when it is dry.

A lot of dry shampoos also contain starch, a household item that many people have in their laundry room. Hold the starch can six to eight inches away and spray the oiler areas of your hair – you will notice it creates the same effect as your regular dry shampoo.

At some stage in our lives, we have all suffered burns from using our straighteners or other electronic hair devices. In such cases, grab some natural yogurt from the fridge and pat some of it over the affected area for 10 minutes. As yogurt contains a lot of probiotics, it will help restore the skin’s natural barrier.

Running out of toner? Use some apple cider vinegar. This is a purifying agent and so can be used as a toner.

Olive oil is also great for washing your face in as it will act as a magnet to the oil that is already on your skin and in your pores. As such, it will draw it out and leave you with a lovely glow and super clean skin.

Who knew there were so many uses of our household items?
