So it’s only July, we know, but that doesn’t mean talking about Christmas is totally off the menu. In fact, even Argos has already revealed their predictions on what will be the biggest must haves on children’s wishlists this year. And if recent years are anything to go by, getting in there early might not be a bad idea.

Linzi Walker, Chief Toy Buyer for Argos, said this year’s list has shown just how much toys are evolving. “They have truly moved on, with more sophisticated tech, life-like functions and up-to-date pop culture references.”

Despite that, popular toys such as NERF, LEGO and Star Wars continue to feature prominently in the wishlists for this year.

And in a survey conducted by Argos, it was found that Irish parents think LEGO will still be big in ten years’ time, with predictions that Christmas 2026 will see LEGO that can build itself be a toy of the future. They also reckon their children will be able to have a toy robot they can talk to, and they’ll have toys that never run out of battery.
