Good shopping, a Michelin star restaurant, beautiful beaches and plenty of historical features. There is a surprisingly lot to do and see in the sunny south east.

Crystal and the home of the famous blaa bread is what most people think of when one mentions Waterford.

Thankfully, there is a lot more to this south eastern region. However, there is still a chance to see and experience the work of the international glass brand at the Waterford Crystal Visitor Center. And if you want to try the famous blaa, there are plenty of bakeries and restaurants serving up the delicious and unique offering.

Indeed, Waterford has no shortage of wonderful eateries. Of course, one of the most well-known now is the House Restaurant in the Cliff House Hotel thanks to its one Michelin star. The stunning hotel is located on the edge cliff of Ardmore, commanding wonderful sea views. If you fancy a spot of golf and afternoon tea, you can retreat to Waterford Castle Hotel and Golf Resort. Located on a private island on the River Suir, visitors can make the short journey by car ferry from the city center.

History enthusiasts will love the Waterford Treasures Medieval Museum and Bishop’s Palace, two key places to visit if you want a real snapshot of the traditions and landscape of the county.

The popular beach town of Tramore is a great escape for families, with surfing and kayaking facilities available for children. Ardmore is another great spot for water sports. There are also plenty of walking and boat tours also available, another great way to leisurely enjoy the sights and sounds of the city.
