Irish soccer stars Jeff Hendrick and Robbie Brady had a big surprise for unsuspecting Subway lunchtime customers earlier this week, when they teamed up with Subway and Pepsi MAX to officially launch a once-in-a-lifetime competition for Irish soccer clubs.
One lucky Irish football club in the Republic of Ireland will win an exclusive coaching session with Jeff Hendrick and Robbie Brady on the winners’ club turf by entering the competition, which runs until 13th April 2017.
#TheBigSUBstitution competition saw Hendrick and Brady swap their football boots for some lunchtime banter when they took on the roles of professional Subway sandwich artists for one day only.

“I’m delighted to be involved in such a genius campaign from Subway and Pepsi MAX, giving soccer fans in Ireland the chance to win a coaching session with myself and Robbie this summer. I know that this is something I would have loved when I was coming up the ranks. The added bit of fun is that I got to team up with one of my best mates to have a bit of a laugh behind the Subway counter, surprising people when they were ordering lunch was brilliant,” said Jeff Hendrick
While Robbie Brady added “Jeff and I are all about having a bit of craic. ‘The Big SUBstitution’ is a genius idea where we substituted for a day with Subway and Pepsi MAX and surprised some football fans! The customers’ faces were priceless as they were ordering lunch. Looking up to see myself and Jeff behind the counter having a laugh…that moment was priceless! We took our training for this project very seriously, we don’t do anything by halves!”
To enter this fantastic competition all you have to do is swipe your Subway in any Subway outlet nationwide and answer a quick question to be in with a chance of winning. Customers will also earn 50 bonus SUBCARD points upon completion. Entries can also be submitted via the Subway mobile app, which is available for download on iPhone or Android, or with a physical SUBCARD in store.
