Dream Destination: Prague

Does your summer holiday already feel like a distant dream? If so, why not treat yourself to an autumn city break? City breaks are a fantastic way to break the routine of work and indulge in some much-needed play before the darker nights of deep winter start to close in.

A brilliant place for a city break and one that is always popular is Prague. If you’re looking for romance, amazing architecture, chocolate, great value and some of the most breath-taking sights in Europe, pay a visit to Prague. Known as the ‘city of bridges’ Prague is awash with history and honestly looks like it belongs in a storybook fairytale.

Why visit Prague?
Prague offers fantastic value for money. Flights are relatively cheap (as is accommodation) and you can expect a three day trip to cost you about €400, providing you’re smart when it comes to flight sales and savvy accommodation options.

The best thing about Prague is the fact that everything inside the city is accessible by foot, you can factor out costly transport fees. The most transport you’ll have to pay for is a taxi or a bus from the airport.

Prague is romantic and dreamy. It’s one of the few places in the world that is just as beautiful in autumn as it is in summer. Spend time walking the winding, cobbled streets taking in the medieval style architecture, watch the astrological clock in Old Town strike the hour and dance the night away in one of the many lively pubs that adorn the streets. What could be better?

When to go?
Prague is fantastic all year round and has a climate similar to the one we have here in Ireland. Prague is particularly fantastic in the run up to Christmas when the town squares will be flooded with markets selling decorations, gingerbread and more.
