Death – Rider Waite Smith Tarot

We’re well and truly in winter now and the subtle change of seasons brings with it the most misunderstood card in the deck – Death. The Death card is one that it’s constantly met with fear and terror. It has been stereotyped to death in film and television and many people are completely unaware of the positive meaning that this card brings with it. No, Death does not mean a literal death. Instead it means a period of transformation and rebirth. This week, you’re encouraged to take some time out and have an honest look at your life. What is wanting to fall away or “die”? Have you outgrown a job? A relationship? A friendship? A bad habit? What needs to be let go of so you can be reborn and start living a more positive and empowering life. Know that whatever you let go of will be replaced by something infinitely better. Death asks you not to be afraid to shed the things which no longer serve you. Embrace the powerful new beginning that is being offered to you now. Have the courage to allow these things to fall away.
