New Comfort Kit boxes

Sligo’s Pudding Row have launched the ‘Comfort Kit’, an artisan care package bursting with homemade Pudding Row favourites which is available for delivery nationwide (€65).

Comfort Kits are designed for people to send to their loved ones who they can't see at the moment, offering comfort and connection from a safe distance. They are also the perfect option for those looking to treat themselves to an indulgent hamper of artisan breads and pastries handmade with local, organic produce.

Dervla James and Johny Conlon, owners of Pudding Row, said “The driving force behind this initiative was to bridge the gap between family and friends, bringing a little slice of connection and celebration to their doorsteps”.

The Comfort Kit consists of:

8 Bagels;

 2 Brownies;

 2 Caramel Squares;

 1 Vegan Flapjack;

 1 Vegan Power Ball;

 1 jar of Raspberry Jam;

 1 jar of Tomato Chutney;

 1 tub of Housemade Granola;

 and 1 bag of Wall and Keogh Loose Leaf Tea.

Dervla and Johny made the decision to close Pudding Row on March 15 due to social distancing. Although the café was closed, Dervla wanted to continue baking and supplying the locals with fresh bread and cakes in a safe way to offer some comfort and normality.

Dervla said, “Johny's background is in web development so he proposed taking orders online for collection. A plan started to form and within 24 hours we had adapted our business from a 50-seater café into an online bakery. We'd take orders online and give our customers a 30-minute window to collect their order and we spread the collections out to minimise footfall.”

Due to an influx of requests beyond the local community, Dervla and Johny developed a delivery service, starting with their Comfort Kits which are available for nationwide delivery via An Post.

They have also launched ‘Build A Box’ where customers can pick and choose the products that they would like delivered starting from €12. Products available for selection include Achill Island Sea Salt, Nutshed Peanut Butter, White Mausu Sauces, Hazel Mountain Chocolate Spreads and Ariosa Coffee, as well as a range of Pudding Row baked goods.

Dervla said, “We’re a miniature operation at the moment but we’re doing everything we can to provide to our community, locally and nationally during these difficult times.”

Comfort Kits cost €65 each, including postage, and can be delivered to any address in Ireland. There are a limited number of kits which sell out within hours each week. Orders can be made online at www.puddingrow.ie
