Are you an Irish speaker, and looking for an acting opportunity in television? The long established and only Irish, Rural based TV drama, Ros na Rún, broadcast on TG4 is looking for new talent for its milestone 25th season of broadcast which will be broadcast on TG4  in Autumn 2020.

In light of the current Covid19 crisis, many people are taking up new interests including performing, creating home and entertainment video pieces to share with family, friends and across online platforms and if you’re doing the same and are an Irish Speaker, Ros na Rún producers want to hear from you.

If you’re an adult male, female, a teenager or child with Gaeilge and you’re looking for something new, a change of career or a challenge, the TG4, Irish language Soap Opera invites you to create your own self tapes. Consideration will be given to all via a new and exciting virtual audition process with further details of phase 2 of the audition process in the comings weeks as details on the lockdown situation unfold.

The popular Irish Language Soap Opera has for 24 seasons led the way on Irish TV, as the largest independent TV drama production outside of Dublin in the history of the state. Reaching many other firsts, Ros na Rún broadcast the first Gay kiss on Irish TV, along with the legendary Stephen Fry’s first appearance on an Irish Language Drama. Daniel O’Donnell also chose the Irish language drama for his  TV acting debut feature.

A co-production between independent TV Production Companies, EO  Teilifís and Tyrone Productions, Ros na Rún is a significant employer in the Connemara Gaeltacht with up to 160 people employed to include cast, crew and script writers. Working entirely as Gaeilge, 82 episodes of the popular rural TV Drama are filmed on a dual studio, purpose-built TV Set in the coastal village of A Spidéal on the Wild Atlantic Way route of the Connemara Gaeltacht.

In addition, the working TV Set and its campus is also home to the Gréasán na Meán Skillnet Programme which offers creative and practical skills for storytelling and communication in print, radio, TV and Digital platforms. Through innovative training initiatives, Gréasán na Meán creates opportunities for renewed training and upskilling in TV Production and the Creative Arts Sector along with employment opportunities in the sector.

Tune into TG4 at 8.30pm on Tuesday and Thursday for your weekly episodes or the omnibus on Sunday evenings at 7.30pm as the current season runs until June 11, 2020. RTE One now broadcasts season 23 of Ros na Rún on Saturday morning at 7.50pm weekly.
