When I was asked to find modern day fashion pieces inspired by a show that aired before I was born, I was dubious. I mean, how could I relate? Actually, very easily it seems. I was amazed at how MTM’s style, from her white go-go boots to the pleated mini skirts, is still on-trend. Bold Colours
One of the things that really resonates today about MTM’s style is her love of bold and bright colours. Violets, reds and turquoises were the striking shades that elevated her outfits effortlessly and looked amazing against her complexion.

THE Power Suit
The power suit wasn’t typically worn around the time of The Mary Tyler Moore Show.
Jersey dresses, tweed jackets and tight-fitting knits were favoured instead. So when MTM graced screens in this fierce ensemble, it was game-changing.
MTM’s femininity was still there but exuded the boldness of a successful woman in the workplace. By the ’80s, Giorgio Armani took the look a step further, one overzealous shoulder pad at a time, and power suits were everywhere.
