Working with day-old/ two-day old hair means some oil has built back up again, which will help your hair hold the curls more easily and for longer.
Use a small amount of styling cream on your dry hair before curling - even better if you can find one that doubles up as a heat protectant.

SECTION
While it might seem obvious, sectioning your hair is crucial to make sure every piece of hair is curled. I like to section my hair into two sections - running a rat tail comb from one ear to the other to form a top and a bottom section. Use the rat tail comb to determine where you would like your parting: old Hollywood curls usually have a side part.

CURL
Starting with the bottom section, take one-inch pieces of hair and wrap them around a barrel curler - avoid tongs if possible as they give a tighter, ringlet curl.
Continue this process until the bottom half is done and then begin on the top half. Be patient and don’t touch the curls while they cool. When you come to your front face-framing pieces of hair - curl towards the face.
This will give you that Hollywood bombshell look.

FINISH
Once the curls have cooled, brush them out gently with a large paddle brush. This will break up the curl slightly and form the iconic soft waves.
Lightly spray with some hairspray to hold the style if you find your curls can drop quickly. And done! You’re ready to hit the red carpet.
