Sparkle On

Time to shine regardless of the occasion. Carissa Casey shares the products she’ll be using to glow day and night.

I’ve already pitched up at my first gig completely overdressed in a sparkly skin-hugging number.

Luckily it was a George Michael Tribute Band at the Button Factory - full of lovely ladies and gentlemen of a certain age who couldn’t care less what anyone wore. But the experience made me realise how much I’ve been pining for old school glamour. I want sparkle in my life, and then some. Despite restrictions, I'll be dolling up at every opportunity

Over the summer I became a fan of Skinmade’s SPF oil. And now the brand has launched a range of problem solving serums. Use with the SPF – yes, even in winter - and remember to exfoliate regularly.

Retinol and Vitamin C are always high on my list for skin ingredients and a good cleanser is a must. Party makeup is nearly always heavier. But I don’t want anything harsh – my skin is already dealing with constant temperature changes (central heating, cold wind).

Thee Irish brand Skingredients has just relaunched its treatment cleanser AHA

Cleanse which is also a micro-mask but is gentle enough for even the most sensitive skin. There are so many great Irish skin brands on the market – worth bearing in mind when present buying.

Our bodies need attention too at this time of year. Mostly its hidden under multiple layers of clothes and then suddenly has to put in an appearance under a fancy top or dress. A simple body lotion applied daily can do wonders but for serious care check out the new Ultraceuticals retexturising cream. A small amount of sunless tan can also give legs, arms and décolletage a boost. Just don’t overdo it.

And check out Tan Republic’s tan bag to protect bedlinen after application.

If your teeth need a little extra help now Polished London’s offerings are surprisingly gentle to use but just as effective.

Finally, as things start to get hectic, I need my downtime.

There’s nothing nicer at this time of year than blobbing on the couch in some lovely mask and your favourite box set on the telly.
