Noel Cunningham - Post Pandemic Party
Noel Cunningham, Harvey’s Point
I will hug everyone I meet, I fear, for several weeks when we open again. I am one of those people who consider the hug supportive, an expression of love, a comfort, full of promise and hope. Life stands motionless in that moment of embrace so profound and loving.
I want to return to Sicily. I long to sit in my apartment there and watch the ocean, climb the hills through fields of wild flowers up to Taormina. Oh, to sit with a coffee and a croissant and watch the sun rise over Mount Etna.
We asked some of our readers what they miss most during the third lockdown; some answers included:
· Aunties, uncles and grandparents that are vulnerable or live outside of their 5km. (Kaelain, Offaly)
· Being able to go for walks in outdoor areas such as beaches and parks, as they are not nearby. (Amy, Castleknock)
· Boyfriends and girlfriends. (Sarah, Finglas)
· Having casual nights in with friends and a few drinks. (Ben, Donegal)
· Going to restaurants and bars. (Siofra, Cavan)
· Being able to casually call in to friends and family’s homes. (Mary, Meath)
· The ability to travel, even just outside of your own county. (Josh, Kildare)
· For young people who have moved out: missing their parents and family pets. (Anna, Dublin)
