Summer Glow

We all love those long sunny days, but lots of natural sunlight needs a ‘no makeup, makeup’ approach which is hard work at the best of times. Then there’s SPF and fake tanning, never mind the need to think green these days. Never fear. Carissa Casey rounds up the best new beauty products to keep you glowing all summer long.

Charlotte Tilbury Invisible UV Flawless Poreless Primer with SPF 50, €49 visit charlottetilbury.com

New from the makeup supremo, a primer and high strength SPF in one. This single product hydrates, minimises pores, fine lines, wrinkles and redness, and provides a base for the kind of light-touch makeup we want on summer days.

Vichy Minéralblend Hydrating Glow Foundation, €18.95 visit boots.ie

A great option for dryer skin, this is a light-weight foundation that won’t clog pores and end up looking cakey as the day wears on. Providing lots of hydration, it sets to a matt, even finish.

Kevin Aucoin Neo Bronzer, €27.50 visit lookfantastic.ie

A finely milled bronzer and blusher with a subtle glow, this is already earning rave reviews from the Insta-set. Sweep over the cheekbones and forehead for remarkably natural sun-kissed skin.

The Balm Anne T. Dote Concealer, €16.00 visit millies.ie

Light coverage foundation is all very well but few of us can get away without a little bit of extra coverage here and there. Recently arrived at millies.ie, the Balm is an uber-trendy American brand with cute but 100 per cent recyclable packaging. This concealer comes in a tin, which makes it ideal for on-the-go touch-ups, and includes jojoba and sunflower oils (organic of course) to cover redness, discolouration and under eye shadows.

Antü Radiance Mist from Codex, €65 visit codexbeauty.ie

Codex has launched three new skincare products in its Antü range, each of which has been formulated to soothe and luminise the skin during the summer months. This mist both exfoliates and re-hydrates the skin, minimising pores and boosting the appearance of dull tired skin.

Mango Shampoo Bar from Klorane, €11.45, visit lookfantastic.ie

Most of us are starting to reassess the use of plastics in the beauty industry, opting for a beautifully scented soap over an ocean-destroying bottle of shower gel. But only the very brave has made the shift to shampoo bars. Klorane has an excellent reputation in the hair space and this bar is sulphate free and suitable for children as young as three. So, perhaps.

Scalp Purifying Scrub and Shampoo from Monat, €56 visit monatglobal.com

We exfoliate our face so why not our scalp, given that it’s exposed to just as much product and pollutants? This scrub uses apple cider vinegar, AHAs and sugar to breakdown and dissolve dead skin cells, tackle sebum, product build-up and environmental pollutants. A blend of 13 natural plant and essential oils rebalances moisture levels.

Miracle Mist Tanning Water for Face and Body from Cocoa Brown €5.99, visit boots.ie

What we wouldn’t give for that effortless, flawless fake tan product. Cocoa Brown claims its new sprtiz’n’glow tanning mist leaves skins hydrated, dewy and perfectly tanned. It’s even infused with castor oil to boost moisture levels. At this price point, it’s certainly worth a try.
