Blossom Pink

Clouds of pink Cherry Blossom flowers are a beautiful reminder of springtime, renewal and growth, writes Norah Casey. Our Mood Board celebrates the frothy blush and palest of pinks of the delicate Sakura, Japan’s unofficial national flower, which blooms en masse in Ireland from late March, through April and May. Delicate pink is calming and hopeful, full of positive, warm energy - a perfect harmonising colour for wellbeing and self-love.

Start with one room or by updating a key piece of furniture. Pink is the colour scheme of my home office, a lovely mix of playfulness and calm. The walls and bookcases are painted with Farrow & Ball Middleton Pink and a statement blush and gold pouffe by Irish textile designer Aoife Mullane is a joy to the eye (aoifemullane.com). Artist Katarzyna Gajewska's portrait of Coco Chanel blends pink and black hues above a sculptural console of resin embedded with a cascade of rose petals by Sasha Sykes (sashasykes.com). In many ways, the gentleness of pale blush adds a subtle and feminine feel to what could well have been a sterile work space. Don’t be afraid to add pink to dominant colours like green or turquoise, but it pairs equally well with natural and more muted grey and blue tones for an elegant colourscape.

Bring a hint of springtime and light to your space with subtle pink accents in cushions and throws to create a soft feel-good palette.

Enjoy the peachy, marshmallow pinks inside and be sure to spend time outside enjoying the frothy blooms of the Cherry Blossom while it lasts.
