Beauty Faves

What are the products the Woman’s Way crew use on repeat? In this issue, staff writer Rachel Spillane is loving colour correcting creams and BIAB manicures.

KEEP IT EVEN

On (rare) sunshine-filled days, my foundation and I don’t get along. Not even the world's best mattifying primer can stop my oily t-zone, which is why I made the big swap in my beauty routine. Goodbye foundation, hello colour-correcter. I’ve been using Dr. Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Colour Correcting Treatment (€42) for a couple of weeks now, and on days when full-glam is not needed, it’s a real lifesaver. The product is pale green but once it's rubbed into the skin, it neutralises any redness and evens out skin tones. It gives my skin that sort of ‘my skin but better’ look without a fi ve-step base routine. I set with a light dusting of powder - Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder (€45) - to minimise shine and voilá! I’m ready to go.

QUICK SKIN FIX

Before any event, I love using a hydrating sheet mask to plump up my skin. I smooth it onto my face and then forget about it while I do any last-minute jobs around the house - it’s the easiest skin prep I’ve ever done. I gently massage the leftover serum into my skin and then apply my makeup as normal. The Casmara Intense Hydra Booster Mask (€10.50) is great for an instant shot of moisture and I really like Glamglow Bubblesheet Oxygenating Deep Cleanse Mask (€9) to combat any breakouts.

BIAB MANICURES

Almost a year ago, I tried a Builder in a Bottle (BIAB) manicure at my local nail salon and never looked back. I used to be an acrylic girl - I loved long, pointy nails that I couldn’t do much with, painted with bright colourful designs, but my poor natural nails suff ered for it. Builder In A Bottle (visit thegelbottle.ie) is a file-off builder gel ideal for strong overlays and acts as a strengthening barrier for natural nails. My natural nails are in much better condition since I made the switch.

LIQUID BLUSH

A makeup product I will always use - even on days when I’m not wearing any makeup - is liquid blush. I love how it can transform your face from looking slightly dull to luminous with a sweep of a brush.

It’s also a product which won’t require you to break the bank, with lots of drugstore brands creating really good quality formulas that are inexpensive. While I mainly look for peach and pink hues to add to my collection, I have been loving darker berry shades applied high on my cheekbones, and over my bronzer. My two favourites are Revolution Superdewy Liquid Blush - Blush Me Up (€6.99) and Milani Cheek Kiss Liquid Blush - Pink Flirt (€11.99).
