What are the products the Woman’s Way crew use on repeat? In this issue, Niamh O’Reilly shares a few of her cult favourites that never let her down

DOUBLE TROUBLE

Like many women in their late 30s and early 40s who are juggling having children and yo-yoing with contraceptive pills, I’m living the hormone rollercoaster and seeing the consequences on my skin. However, the good news is many anti-ageing skincare ingredients are also beneficial for fighting acne. For breakouts, it’s hard to beat The Ordinary’s Salicylic Acid 2% Solution €5.95, which I use in the evening.

I’ve also found that a lot of acne skincare products targeted at younger, oily skin will dry out my more mature skin, so I make sure to hydrate it often. I use La Roche-Posay HyaluB5 Hyaluronic Acid Cream €31.45 every morning and if things get bad, I treat myself to an Ultraceuticals B2 Hydration Mask €95 which is packed with niacinamide and peptides.

MAKEUP ON THE RUN

If you thought putting makeup on while on the bus was a skill, wait until you’ve a toddler jumping on you.

I’ve had to become a master at hasslefree makeup and the two things I don’t leave the house without are eyeliner and a light layer of foundation. Not the easiest to apply when under duress, but No7 HydraLuminous Moisturising Foundation €18.95 is my go-to for quick, everyday medium coverage. Their shade matching is on point, and it doesn’t flare up my sensitive skin.

BRIGHT EYES

As any parent of young children will know, sleep is a rare commodity.

As I’ve gotten older, I really notice those sleepless nights more and more on my eyes. The dark circles are darker and take longer to conceal. I love Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat High Cover Concealer €31.95 which is an updated version of the iconic click pen. Where the original was a highlighter, this one is a proper concealer and is also great on blemishes or red spots. It’s pricey though, but I find setting with a light powder makes it last all day and gives a better bang for your buck. Rimmel’s Stay Matte Pressed Powder is cheap as chips at €5.45 but never lets me down.

CRAZY HAIR, DO CARE

If, like me, you’ve very fine hair that will tie itself in knots if you just look at it, then I suggest you invest in a Tangle Teezer. I find the smaller palm-size versions too fiddly and it’s flown out of my hand and across the room on more than one occasion, after coming across a literal bird's nest in my gruaig. Consequently, I’ve progressed to the brand’s bigger guns, in the form of their Easy Dry & Go Large €22. I also spend a lot of time in the pool or sea swimming, so Matrix Total Results Miracle Creator Multi- Tasking 20 Benefits Treatment Spray €11.45 comes everywhere with me
