Dyson, Supersonic Hair Dryer €399
I’m blaming Sali Hughes, the Guardian’s beauty writer, for shelling out a crazy amount of hard earned cash for a hair dryer. But then I’ve never gone wrong following her advice. Yup it’s a crazy price but yup I’m loving it. I’m getting as close as I’ve ever gotten to a salon style blow dry in half the time I usually spend doing my hair. With the classic Irish frizzy hair, the ‘flyaway’ attachment which leaves my locks super-smooth.
Sunday Riley - A+ High-Dose Retinoid Serum €79
It’s been a while since I used retinol in my skincare routine but with summer drawing to a close, I felt it might be time to add it in. This one is super strong and, despite having a pretty high tolerance, I still only use it about two or three times a week and interchange it with hydrating products. Otherwise I find my skin dries out.
Avant Multi-Defense Ceramides Protecting Veil €87
I read recently that sun exposure is the main cause of skin ageing so an SPF50 is always the last thing I apply before I put on makeup. Some products feel gloopy and leave the skin feeling dull. This one is light as air and provides a whole host of additional protection.
Bare by Vogue Face Tanning Mist (Medium) €18
While I keep my face out of the sun as much as possible and always wear an SPF, I’m not a huge fan of a deathly white face. Even in winter a little bit of glow never goes amiss. The odd time I’ve tried misting my face I’ve ended up with eye irritation, so instead I spray on to my hands and smooth over my face - a quick hand wash means I don’t end up with beautifully tanned palms.
Frances Prescott Eye & Lip Contour Cream €80
I’m loving this cream at the moment. First up, it’s multi-tasking which is always a winner in my book, since my bathroom shelves are often groaning with product. It’s lightweight and absorbs easily, leaving both the delicate under eye area and the lips feeling super hydrated.
Luna by Lisa Jordan Airbrush €24
Another great multi-tasker. This is a primer, highlighter and tint in one. I’m not sure I’d wear it alone (I’m an unashamed makeup girl) but it’s super under foundation. The glow is pretty subtle which suits the cooler, duller days ahead and it definitely holds makeup in place. It also gives a nice pore blurring effect.
Zara Limitless Soft Matte Foundation €15.99
I’ve been a huge fan of Zara makeup ever since it launched about a year ago. The packaging is super stylish and the product quality excellent. The foundation which launched more recently is now my daily go to. Still having an oily t-zone it works for me. It’s also quite dense so a little goes a long way. The Hyrda Glow Tinted Moisturiser (€15.99) isn’t available yet but sounds like it might work better for dry skin. I’m hoping it will be a good weekend option and ‘no makeup’ makeup days.
