A Christmas gift with history

Carrickmacross Lace marks its 200th anniversary this year, and whilst Covid has put pay to any celebrations for now, the Carrickmacross Lace Gallery has just launched a new website to showcase the very best of its beautiful hand-stitched wares, from large and small pieces for display to brooches, keyrings, bookmarks and baubles. There are even lace-making kits featuring full instructions for those inspired to create their own mini-masterpiece.

The “royal lace” was famously featured in Princess Diana’s wedding dress, and Kate Middleton paid tribute to her late mother-in-law by including it in the design of her own, also.
