Journalling

I read with interest your article on journalling (in issue 12th July 2021) and I fully agree with all the sentiments. However, I think our parents and grandparents engaged in their form of journalling, long before it became popular. They wrote everything down, maybe not in a fancy journal but they still saw the importance of documenting everything, relative to their lives at the time. Probably not their private thoughts and feelings but for them being organised and keeping track of everything gave them a sense of freedom. Everything is relative!

Barbara Flood, Co MeathAnything is possible

In life, nothing is guaranteed but anything is possible. To me, nothing in life is certain. This is the reality of life. There is a saying “The only things that are certain are death and taxes”. Disappointment and discouragement grows when you thought what was guaranteed does not happen but once you always have hope, you always have a chance. Limerick's latest success in the Munster final looked uncertain at halftime. Ten points in arrears at half time and they didn’t give up. They had hope. The Limerick team that came out of the dressing room for the second half looked nothing like the one that was trailing Tipperary in the opening half. Never give up, never lose hope and always have faith it allows you to cope.  Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.

Catherine Fulvio

I have been debating for some time now as to whether I wanted to return to academia. I have two children in college and so the prospect seemed a little daunting. After reading Catherine Fulvio’s feature in Woman’s Way I felt immediately inspired to pursue my academic dream. I have begun researching courses in culinary arts, another coincidence that I love food as Catherine does, and will hopefully be starting night classes in September. I really enjoyed this article and the push it gave me to follow my dream.

Women in Food

My heart soared while reading the women in food special in this week’s issue of Woman’s Way Magazine. I did not realise that there were so many talented and inspiring women working in a male-dominated industry, and each and every one of them is going from strength to strength. I hope to visit some of the restaurants featured in this piece and witness for myself the growing numbers of female chefs in Ireland.

Glow Interiors

I moved into my grandmothers’ house with my husband fifteen years ago and have never had the opportunity to do it up; that is until COVID hit. I decided to make designing my home a fun project and was delighted with the results. I brightened things up significantly, but the house was missing a bit of shimmer. I loved the Glow Interiors feature in the magazine and was delighted to find some interesting pieces that I could incorporate into my home featured. I hopped online straight away and purchased the Harper Gem 2 Tier Fruit Bowl and the Golden Standing Deco. I am so excited to see these pieces in my home. Thank you for the inspiration Woman’s Way!

Fighting Fit

I absolutely loved the boxing piece by Carissa Casey in Woman’s Way. I fell off the exercise bandwagon in the last few years but have always loved boxing. I am from Bray and so I could not wait to get involved in this fun type of exercise once I read this piece. Carissa describes her journey in a fun and fresh way that gave me the extra boost of confidence to sign up for some boxing classes. Another great article from Carissa.

Butterflies

I have always had a fascination with butterflies but never really knew much about them. Their stunning colours and grace as they flew through the air have gripped me since I was a child. You can imagine my excitement to see a piece written about them in my favourite magazine. My house backs onto a field that is full to the brim with butterflies every summer and so I felt great about learning some essential information on how to help them to thrive in my garden.

Fruity Beauty

I love looking at all of the beauty products in Woman’s Way for myself and also because it gives me great gift ideas for my two daughters. What I also love is seeing a product I actually have in my vanity like the Sunday Riley CEO Glow in the Fruity Beauty spread. It’s one of the best skincare items I use and well worth the money. My skin looks great - better than it has in years - and my daughters love to steal a couple of drops whenever they can too. I’ll have to lock it up! I have also been loving the New Beauty spreads. Even though I’m older now, I love to keep up with the latest trends and try out new things I see in the magazine. It’s almost too easy to order products online now. I’ll have to start hiding boxes or else my husband will think I have a bit of a problem (I do!).

New Fashion

I have been loving the New In fashion spreads in the last few issues of your magazine. I think it’s great to see the latest trends and styles in the shops. I’m at an age where I can’t walk around the shops for hours while browsing so I love flicking through the pages and seeing all of the fashion pieces that you pick out. Online shopping throughout the lockdown was a bit of a blessing and a curse for me. I loved taking my time to choose my new outfits or shoes but I would often need one of my kids to help me with the payment details and delivery. One of my friends had been scammed into buying a new pair of trainers in 2020 so I have been hesitant to buy anything without having the website checked over. Keep up the good work Woman’s Way.
